
Varanasi: A 21-day-long Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-sponsored Centre for Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) programme on the theme ‘Innovative and Sustainable Valorisation of Food and Dairy Waste’ commenced on Tuesday at the department of dairy science and food technology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU. The initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of faculty members, researchers, and extension specialists in the field of agricultural sciences working in different ICAR institutes in India. More than 18 participants joined the programme designed by course coordinator Amrita Poonia, and co-coordinators Arvind and Chhaya under the guidance of director CAFT prof Anil Kumar Chauhan.
In his keynote address, dean, Institute of Management Studies, BHU prof Sujeet Kumar Dubey emphasised the importance of utilising the waste generated from the food industry. Director, IAS, BHU prof UP Singh shared insights on current trends and future prospects in the field.
He further said that this training will surely foster collaboration between scientists and their counterparts across agricultural institutions.
