Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation‘s (KCMMF) governing body has decided to give a subsidy of Rs 300 per sack of Milma Gold cattle feed distributed through dairy societies, said Milma chairman KS Mani.
The subsidy will be provided for the cattle feed to be sold in March. At present Milma gives a subsidy of Rs 100. The subsidy will be a relief to dairy farmers who are struggling with the increased production cost, said Mani.
Besides the subsidies given by Milma’s Malabar and Thiruvananthapuram regional unions, the Milma Federation has been providing a subsidy of Rs 100 per sack for cattle feed from Sept 2024, which is the same as the rate five years ago. With increased subsidies, cattle feed prices will be further reduced.
For the first time in history, some of Milma’s regional unions gave cattle feed subsidies and increased milk buying rates to farmers for a year without interruption.
