In a resounding voice of dissent, dairy farmers from the region have united to express their dissatisfaction with the Kamdhenu scheme, an initiative introduced by the state government. The farmers have collectively appealed for the cessation of this scheme, asserting that it fails to address their needs. Instead, they are urging the government to establish a support price of Rs 100 per liter of milk, a move they believe would significantly benefit their community.
A pivotal meeting was convened at Bordem, Bicholim, drawing the participation of approximately 50 dairy farmers. The gathering provided a platform for thorough deliberations on various government-sponsored welfare programs aimed at the dairy industry. As the discussions unfolded, a unanimous resolution emerged – a call for the immediate discontinuation of the Kamdhenu scheme.

Foremost among these appeals is the provision of loans at a nominal 4% interest rate, a measure they envision as pivotal to procuring essential cattle. Furthermore, they highlighted the necessity for an avenue to insure their cattle, a step that would mitigate potential losses and secure their livelihoods.
