Pakistan’s highest court hears petition on forceful deportation of Afghans born in the country
Human rights activists are seeking to halt the forceful deportation of Afghans in Pakistan. The deportations are part of a nationwide crackdown by the government targeting Afghans without proper documentation. Pakistan claims the campaign does not specifically target Afghans, though they make up the majority of foreigners in the country. Since the crackdown began in October, hundreds of thousands of Afghans have been deported or have voluntarily returned home. Human rights activists and UN officials have denounced Pakistan’s policy and called for its reconsideration.

Reply in 4 weeks: High court notice to Bihar government on quota hike PIL
The Patna High Court has directed the Bihar government to respond to a PIL challenging the constitutional validity of the increased reservation for SC, ST, and backward-class applicants in state government jobs and educational institutions. The PIL questions the quota hike on the grounds of violating the SC’s ruling and terms the Bihar Reservation Amendment Bill arbitrary. The changes in reservation were based on the state government’s caste survey, which the PIL alleges increased the proportion of certain castes in Bihar’s population to accommodate a higher quota.
