Gurugram: A 50-year-old dairy farmer, Sukhbir, fell victim to an online scam while trying to expand his business. He found an online ad offering four cows for sale at a bargain price of Rs 95,000 and paid an advance of over Rs 22,000 in four instalments. However, he later discovered that it was all a scam.
Concerned about the escalating demands for more money, Sukhbir complained to the police. The investigation revealed that the money was transferred to an Axis Bank account, which has since been frozen.
The police have registered a case under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating against unknown individuals. The investigation is ongoing, pending the receipt of bank records for further action.
