Madurai: A R Dairy Food Pvt Ltd, a Dindigul-based dairy company, has refuted the charge that it supplied adulterated ghee to Thirumala Tirupati Devasthanam following allegations that the ghee used to make Tirupati laddoo contained animal fat.
Company’s officials told reporters in Dindigul on Friday that the ghee supplied by them was duly tested before despatch and subsequently tested by TTD too. They have sent all test reports to TTD after the row erupted, said the company’s quality control officials Leni and Kannan.
They supplied ghee to TTD in June and July and had stopped the supply after that. “The test report on Tirupati laddoo does not mention our company name anywhere,” they said adding that the ghee manufactured by them is available in markets.
Meanwhile, sources in the food safety department said they conducted tests in the company after complaints arose in July about substandard ghee. They found that the products satisfied all parameters of food safety standards, said the officials. In the wake of the laddoo row, national food safety officials would probe the complaint further, they said.
“The contribution of A R Dairy in the ghee supplied to TTD is merely 0.1% of ghee procured by TTD and we sent just four tankers of it. Food safety officials and AGMARK officials have also inspected our products and found no anomalies,” said Leni.
