HYDERABAD: Even as the Tirumala laddu prasadam controversy rages on, Gnana Saraswati Devi temple in Basar and Sri Raja Rajeswara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada have decided to opt for ghee from govt-run Vijaya Dairy to make prasadam. Both these temples in Telangana used to depend on local suppliers for ghee in the past.
Sources said that efforts are on to supply ghee from Vijaya Dairy for all the famed temples in the state.”These two temple boards have taken the decision to ask Vijaya Dairy to supply ghee for all rituals, prasadam preparations, etc.,” a source said.

In addition, the state govt is set to ask social welfare schools to take supplies from Vijaya Dairy. “There are many private dairies that supply ghee to govt institutions,” the source said.
In a bid to strengthen the state-run dairy, the Congress govt released Rs 50 crore as a grant for payments for dairy farmers.
“Another Rs 50 crore will be released soon to clear pending bills. This is the first time a state govt has paid as grant for clearing outstanding dues of dairy farmers. These bills had been pending for last one year,” an official said.
