HYDERABAD: As part of efforts to beef up its presence in the Hyderabad market, dairy player Akshayakalpa Organic is setting up its first milk processing facility in the state.
The facility, with a capacity to process 40,000 litres of milk per day, will be coming up at Jadcherla on the outskirts of Hyderabad at an investment of Rs 20 crore, Akshayakalpa Organic’s CEO & co-founder Shashi Kumar said on Thursday.
The company, which has a presence only in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, has so far been catering to the Hyderabad market through its main facility at Tiptur in Tumkuru district of Karnataka where it has a capacity to process 2 lakh litres of milk per day.
It also has a facility in Tamil Nadu at Chengalpattu on Chennai’s outskirts where it has a 40,000 litres per day capacity. The company currently procures 1.35 lakh litres of milk daily from around 1,500 farmers in these two states and in Telangana it plans to onboard 65 farmers to start with in October or November 2025 when the processing facility commences with 6,000-7,000 litres per day and ramp this up to around 40,000 litres per day through procurement for 365 farmers.
The Jadcherla facility is expected to become operational by October this year, Shashi Kumar said, adding that the company already has a research station at Shadnagar near Shamshabad where they train farmers on organic farming techniques.
