A man was allegedly killed with sharp weapons by the lover of a woman the victim had an affair with. The incident happened when the victim was sleeping in the early hours in Ambala Cantt on Monday. The accused was arrested and said to have confessed his crime.
Suman Devi, the wife of the victim, said that her husband – Ghanshyam – ran a dairy in Inderpuri colony, but after the floods, he started construction of shops on the plot for rental purpose. In her complaint, Suman said that his husband was sleeping on the construction site and was later found murdered around 5 am.

The complainant said that Ghanshyam had an affair with one Poonam, who lives opposite the dairy, for the last four-five years. It was alleged that Poonam had relations with one Parveen too, a resident of New Tagore Nagar Colony. Suman said that she had come to know about her husband’s affair about six-seven months ago, and had asked her husband to end relationship with the woman.
The complaint added that Parveen had quarrelled with Ghanshyam many times and had done so on Sunday too. During the incident, Parveen had threatened to kill her husband, the complainant said, adding that she believes that the former is the murderer.
Superintendent of Police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa told the media that the police have arrested Parveen. He said that the accused confessed his crime, and said that he killed Ghanshyam with an axe while he was sleeping at his under-construction house. The SP said that the weapon used by Parveen had been recovered by the police. The police were also interrogating Poonam for the murder.
