
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Upa Lokayukta has registered a suo-motu case on milk adulteration in AP.
Upa Lokayukta P Rajani directed the commissioner of food safety, AP, to direct all assistant food inspectors and food safety officers to conduct surprise inspections of local milk producers, dairies and suppliers.
She also directed the officials to collect samples and take appropriate legal action if the samples were found to be unsafe for human consumption.
While directing the authorities to create awareness so that the public can identify and report adulteration, Rajani stressed the need to keep an eye on milk refrigeration units.
Additionally, she directed the commissioner of food safety to set up milk purity testing facilities at all levels.
She asked the officials to submit a final report on the action taken by March 4.
