Arla has announced a 3.8ppl price rise for conventional milk from January 1.
The cooperative has announced prices at 39.18ppl for conventional and 46.50ppl for organic milk. It followed its first price rise after six months of holds in December.
Muller has confirmed no change in its February price, which remains at 36.5ppl.
Milk prices
Arla Foods amba board director, and Arla farmer, Arthur Fearnall, said: “This is a good start to the new year. Retail sales continue to pick up after the turnaround in quarter three in 2023. Global commodity prices continue to recover as well.

“However, they are slightly weakened after seasonal demands are fulfilled.”
Prices in Central Europe have seen an additional increase for organic milk.

“In Central Europe, the increase for organic is driven by the transition of the certification scheme to the organic association Naturland and following the increased profitability from retail positions. The outlook is stable,” he added.
Dairy market growth
Paul Savage, agriculture director for Arla UK continues: “Both conventional and organic markets are coming back to growth and our retail branded sales continue to improve.
“With a stable outlook, this latest and significant increase should give confidence to our farmer owners as we begin the start of a new year.”
