New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has claimed to have removed at least ten illegal encroachments done in the form of illegal dairies in Bhalswa Dairy Colony.
A joint team, consisting of members from the veterinary department, the engineering department, and the general branch of MCD, collaborated with local police to take action against encroachments and obstructions in the Bhalswa Dairy Colony under the civil lines zone, said an official on Monday.
The operation, which took place on Monday, targeted occupants who had illegally constructed sheds adjacent to their dairy plots to house dairy animals, blocking common passages in the process.
“During the operation, the team claimed to have dismantled ten illicit sheds as well as some temporary structures used for dairy activities. This decisive action was taken to reclaim government land and ensure that the community could freely use the common passages without any hindrance,” said the official.
He added that to prevent future encroachments on government land, a formal letter has been sent to local police authorities, urging them to remain vigilant and take strict action against any such attempts.
The letter emphasised the need for the police to enforce the provisions of the Indian Penal Code to deter individuals from engaging in illegal encroachments and take immediate action against violators.
Earlier, the erstwhile north corporation had issued a list of defaulters in this area as well as neighbouring colonies to mitigate the issues permanently. “While our officials carry out drives from time to time, it is important that other departments also act diligently,” said the official.
