What did SN Subrahmanyan say?
L&T chairman SN Subrahmanyan, earlier this month, expressed his regret over “not having made his employees work on Sundays”. His remarks invited heavy outrage and criticism on social media, with several business leaders and veterans from across various industries posting their views on the same.Â
“I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays, to be honest. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy, because I work on Sundays also”, he said.Â
“What do you do sitting at home? How long can you stare at your wife? How long can the wives stare at their husbands? Get to the office and start working”, he added.Â
Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla, RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka, and Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra among others mocked Subrahmanyan’s remarks. Moreover, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone also slammed the L&T chairman, highlighting the significance of mental health.Â
