Nashik: The dairy farmers in Akole and Sangamner talukas of Ahmednagar district took out a tractor morcha from Kotul village in Akole taluka to Sangamner taluka on Tuesday. They have been agitating for the past 18 days demanding a rate of Rs 40 per litre for milk.
The farmers took the 55 km journey to express their anger against the government took no against post the agitation.
“The agitation was directed towards the office of the sub-divisional officer in Sangamner. The agitators poured milk and cow dung on the premises,” said Ajit Navale, a member of the Doodh Utpadak Shetkari Sangharsha Samiti.
“There was no intention of causing a traffic jam. If the govt had taken note of our demand, we wouldn’t have been here. Next, we will either go to Loni (the hometown of the dairy development minister and guardian minister Radhakrishna Vikhepatil) or the Mantralay, depending on what the farmers decide,” said Navale.
