Plan to hand over Mahanand dairy to Centre-run board in Gujarat sparks controversy
Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alleges that the Shinde-Fadnavis government wants to hand over the Mahanand Dairy to Gujarat, just as it is shifting key projects to the neighboring state. The dairy board passed a resolution to hand over management to the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) due to difficulties in milk collection and distribution. The handover process was stuck over payment to workers. The move is seen as part of a plan to favor Gujarat, erasing the identity of Maharashtra. The fate of over 1,000 employees is uncertain as NDDB can accommodate only 350.
