Vadodara: Elections for the post of chairman of Baroda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (BDCMPUL) popularly known as Baroda Dairy will be held on Thursday. This will be the third time that polls for the top post of the district co-operative milk union will be held in less than a year’s time.
The polls are being held as Satish Patel alias Satish Neshaliya, elected chairman of the milk union in July, resigned from his post on October 31.
Patel while announcing his resignation had said that he took the decision following a call by state BJP chief C R Paatil to follow the ‘one man, one post’ criteria of the party.
Patel is also the BJP Vadodara district unit chief. It was in February last year that Patel was appointed as district BJP unit chief replacing Ashwin Patel.
Interestingly, Neshaliya is the second chairman to resign from the post in less than a year. In January, Dinesh Patel alias Dinu Mama, former Padra MLA had resigned from chairmanship much before two and a half years term of chairman and vice-chairman ended in June.
Dinu Mama, a former BJP MLA representing Padra, had contested as an independent candidate during the state assembly polls in December 2022 but was defeated by BJP’s Chaitanyasinh Zala, who won by a narrow margin. Post-assembly polls, Dinu Mama once again joined the saffron fold.
In April, Satish Neshaliya and Kirtansinh Maharaul, a director who had switched sides from Congress to BJP, were appointed as chairman and vice chairman with around two months remaining in their term.
When fresh elections for the post of chairman and vice-chairman of Baroda were held in July, the dairy witnessed a long-drawn verbal spat between two groups within the saffron party requiring the intervention of BJP’s top brass.
Eventually, Neshaliya was re-elected as chairman while G B Solanki was elected as vice-chairman of the dairy union as all the directors of the milk union unanimously accepted the mandate of the BJP party.

SC asks Chadha to meet the RS chairman, apologize
The Supreme Court has asked AAP MP Raghav Chadha to apologize to the Rajya Sabha chairman and vice-president, Jagdeep Dhankhar, for the select committee row that led to his suspension. The court expressed hope that the chairman would take an “objective view” on the matter. Chadha’s counsel stated that he had already apologized multiple times and would do so again in person. The court suggested resolving the issue at the chairman’s level. Chadha was suspended in August after falsely informing the House about consent from six MPs for a select committee.
