
Pune: Chocolate and dairy products were gutted in a fire in a godown in Market Yard around 3pm on Saturday. No one was injured.
Fire officials said the godown owner informed them that the fire broke out on the ground floor of the 3,000sqft facility because of a suspected short-circuit.
Fire officer Pankaj Jagtap said, “Three fire tenders and as many water tankers were rushed to the spot after the fire brigade control room received calls about a plume of smoke emanating from the godown.”
Jagtap said, “The fire broke out in the ground-floor office of the godown and spread rapidly after it came in contact with chocolates and dairy products packed in plastic and card board containers.”
