Jaipur: During an inspection at a retail mart in Jhotwara on Saturday, a team of food safety officers found two litres of counterfeit Saras ghee, which was seized.
Representatives from Saras Dairy also arrived at the spot.
According to a health department officer, investigations into ghee from other companies are currently underway. An FIR against D Mart at a mall in Jhotwara is being combined with a previous FIR by Saras Dairy, he added.
Similarly, during an inspection by the food safety department team and the Saras Dairy team at Anuj Trading Company located in Kukarkheda, 430 packets of one-litre and 230 packets of half-litre Saras ghee, manufactured by Ajmer Dairy, were found in the shop.No Saras ghee manufactured by Jaipur Saras Dairy was discovered.
The Saras team confirmed its authenticity, and Ajmer Saras Dairy was notified for a comprehensive investigation. One sample from each packet was taken. The sale of this ghee has been halted until the test report is received.
Furthermore, an inspection was conducted at Messrs Khandelwal Dhaba located on Mahal Road, Jagatpura, where cleanliness was unsatisfactory. All food items were uncovered. The working staff lacked medical certificates, and there was no water test report. Pest control records were also missing. The materials used for cooking were stored in empty drums of paint, chemicals, and adhesive, which were emptied on the spot and mandated to be kept in steel drums.
