The Chhota Udepur District Congress Committee on Monday took out a rally in ‘support’ of BJP Lok Sabha MP Jashu Rathwa, who had recently written a letter to the district collector stating that the “incomplete information” being handed out to him by departments concerned had become a hindrance in raising issues with the administration.
Congress district president Devendra Tiwari submitted a memorandum in “support of Jashu Rathwa” referring to his September 10 letter, in which he had said that the departments concerned were “not responding to his queries” and “refraining from providing the necessary information” that was “preventing” Rathwa from “raising the relevant issues” in the coordination meetings.
The Congress said, “If the officers can ignore an MP, then what standing do the MLAs, district and taluka party leaders and especially the common people have?”
Internal Discord
The fight within the BJP’s Bharuch district unit has come to the fore once again with Bharatiya Tribal Party former president Mahesh Vasava, who joined the BJP ahead of Lok Sabha polls in April, resigning from Dudhdhara Milk Cooperative director’s post citing “internal politics”. In his email resignation to Dudhdhara Dairy managing director, Mahesh Vasava said, “I am resigning with effect from September 21.
The reason is that Prakash Desai was appointed as director of the dairy to fill up the seat vacated by Dinesh Padhariya, in contravention to the rules laid down for the process… We wanted the heir of Padhariya to be appointed as his successor …but since the internal politics by (some leaders) prevailed, in view of the upcoming elections in the cooperative, I am tendering my resignation.” Supporting him, Bharuch MP Mansukh Vasava said, “The leaders of the cooperatives of sugar and milk in Bharuch as well as the farmers and milk producers are miffed that the party leaders are choosing and nominating people on their own without taking people into confidence… These decisions should not be taken by people sitting in Gandhinagar….”
