The Gujarat Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) Wednesday seized 4,000 kg of suspected adulterated ghee in Deesa town of Banaskantha district.
The ghee, from Shri Navkar Dairy Products, was prima facie suspected to be adulterated, leading to a seizure worth Rs 17.5 lakh, said FDCA Commissioner Dr H G Koshia. He said that 11 ghee samples were sent to the food testing lab in Vadodara.
In May 8, 2024, the agency had conducted an inspection at the factory in Deesa and detected violation of the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Regulations, 2011. A notice was issued to the firm. However, after it did not comply with the notice the firm’s license was cancelled on October 4, 2024.
