Chandigarh: Showing its keen interest in opening more ‘Vita’ milk booths across Chandigarh, the Haryana government has written to the Chandigarh municipal corporation, seeking 55 sites across the city for the purpose.
In a letter to municipal commissioner Amit Kumar, the additional chief secretary (ACS) of Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (HDDCF) said they surveyed and subsequently identified 55 feasible sites throughout the city for opening of booths, where milk and milk products can be sold. HDDCF has 33 functional Vita milk booths in Chandigarh. Claiming that the sale of Vita products contributes to the economic welfare and upliftment of farmers of Haryana, the state govt said it also provides self-employment opportunities to individuals who are running Vita booths.
The letter of the ACS, a copy of which is with TOI, reads, “HDDCF is involved in the procurement, processing, and manufacturing of milk and milk products under the famous brand Vita. A range of Vita products includes pasteurised full cream milk, standard milk, toned milk, double toned milk, sweetened flavoured milk, A2 desi cow milk, dahi, paneer, mithi lassi, namkeen lassi, ice cream, and sweets (kaju pinni, milk cake, besan ladoo, and kheer) which are being manufactured and sold by HDDCF. Vita milk products are known for their quality and good taste not only in Haryana, but the entire northern region. Vita milk and milk products are sold to customers at reasonable rates. The sale of Vita products also contributes to the economic welfare and upliftment of farmers of Haryana, who provide milk through village-level cooperative societies.”
