In a move aimed at supporting milk producers in the state, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has announced an increase in the prices of Nandini milk and dairy products. Approved by the Karnataka cabinet on July 27, the revised prices will come into effect from August 1, 2023.
Responding to demands from milk producers, KMF decided to raise the prices by up to Rs 3. The price revisions are as follows:
- Toned milk (blue packet) will be increased from Rs 39 per liter to Rs 42.
- Homogenized milk, previously priced at Rs 40, will now cost Rs 43.
- Pasteurized milk (Green packet) will be priced at Rs 46 instead of Rs 43.
- Shubham special milk (orange packet) will be raised from Rs 45 to Rs 48 per liter.
- Curd’s price has been increased to Rs 50 per kilogram, up from Rs 47.
- Buttermilk (200ml) will now cost Rs 9, previously priced at Rs 8.
KMF officials emphasized that the price hike is essential to provide better support to milk producers in Karnataka. Despite being the lowest-priced milk in the country, the increase in prices will help sustain the livelihood of dairy farmers.
In response to the rise in fuel, gas, and milk prices, the Bruhat Bangalore Hotels’ Association (BBHA) has also decided to implement a 10% increase in rates.
With the price revision, consumers can expect a marginal rise in their daily expenses for dairy products. However, the decision seeks to bolster the dairy industry in Karnataka and ensure continued support to milk producers amid challenging economic conditions.
Overall, the price hike is seen as a necessary step to ensure the sustainability of the dairy sector and maintain the supply of high-quality Nandini milk products in the state.
