Lucknow: The board meeting of the Uttar Pradesh livestock development board, which completed 25 years of service in January, was chaired by animal husbandry department ACS, Rajneesh Dube, on Tuesday.
Board CEO Dr Neeraj Gupta, highlighted several good schemes implemented in past years, like MoU with Banas (Amul) dairy for elite indigenous calves of Gir and Sahiwal breeds for farmers in Varanasi region; development of a centre of excellence for preservation and propagation of native ‘Gangotri’ breed of cattle; Murrah deep frozen semen station in Manjhra, Lakhimpur-Kheri; ‘centre of excellence’ for integrated farming and cross-breeding Centre at Baheri in Bareilly; addition of sexed/sorted semen lab in Rahmankheda, Lucknow to produce 5 lakh semen doses per annum through transparent procedure of selection of patent technology service provider that ensures birth of 90 % females, thereby increasing milk and reducing male calves for milk producers.
