Dairy major Amul has dedicated its latest topical to actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das who recently won an International Emmy for Comedy at a ceremony in New York.
The 44-year-old took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a photo of the topical ad and said he teared up after looking at it. “Didn’t cry about the Emmy. Saw this. Teared up. To come home to something like this, for someone like me. Thank you,” Das wrote.
Amul India paid tribute to the stand-up comedian as the topical shows him holding the award in one hand and a slice of bread with butter in the other hand. “While sharing the same, the dairy brand wrote, “Our Emmynent Comedian!”

“Wow. This is bigger than Emmy. No disrespect to Emmy. Congratulations, Vir. Used to love your “potcast” which you used to put out on Facebook back in the day,” a user commented. “Congratulations you landed perfectly,” said another. “Hearty Congratulations!!!” wrote a third.
This was Das’s second nomination and first win. The Netflix stand-up special ‘Vir Das: Landing’ shared the Best Comedy Series award with the third season of the UK series Derry Girls. Previously, he was nominated in the same category in 2021 for the stand-up special named For India.
In 2021, the comedian’s monologue Two Indias, performed at the John F Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, sparked significant controversy. During the monologue, he delved into the duality of the country, addressing topics such as the response to Covid-19, air pollution, farmers’ agitation, cricket, and incidents of rape.
