He added that the suspect offered the victim a dairy dealership and promised to provide orders for ghee from various temples across the state. “To gain the victim’s trust, the suspect gave him a cheque for Rs1.2 lakh before finalising any deal,” Kale said.
The officer also said the elderly victim then paid the suspect some initial amount.”The suspect even paid commission to the victim on his investments until Sept last year but was not returning his capital,” he said.
Between May last year and March this year, the suspect took Rs38 lakh from the victim. “When he did not return the capital amount, the victim started pursuing him. The suspect shut down his office and ceased to respond,” Kale said.
