Ludhiana: The issue of direct discharge from dairy units was flagged by Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal at the office of Jamalpur Sewage Treatment Plant on Friday. Officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board, Municipal Corporation, Sewage Board and other departments were also present. Seechewal, who came to encourage the plantation drive initiated to enhance green cover in areas along the Buddha nullah, expressed concern that neither were dairy farmers serious about managing discharge from dairies, nor was legal action having an effect on them.Officials held Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) responsible for the state of affairs. tnn
