Days after the recent expansion of the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, ministries were allocated on Tuesday to the newly inducted members, including four Cabinet ministers.
Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party chief and MLA Om Prakash Rajbhar has been given the panchayati raj and minority welfare department. In the first term of the Yogi-Adityanath led government from 2017, before his exit from the NDA before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and handled the backward class welfare department.
The minority welfare and waqf department, which has also been allotted to Rajbhar, was with Cabinet Minister Dharampal Singh so far, along with animal husbandry, dairy development, political pension as well as civil defence. Now, Dharampal will retain just Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Political Pension. Civil Defense has been given to existing Minister of State (independent charge) Dharmaveer Prajapati.
Dara Singh Chauhan of BJP, who also took oath of office along with Rajbhar, has been given the prisons department, which was with MoS with Independent Charge Dharamveer Parajapati so far.
Anil Kumar of Rashtriya Lok Dal, has been made Minister for Science and Technology, whereas Sunil Kumar Sharma of BJP, has been made Minister for Electronics and Information Technology.
So far, both science and technology as well as electronics and information technology departments were with Cabinet Minister Yogendra Upadhyaya, along with higher education.
Dharmaveer Prajapati, who was minister of state (independent charge) for Jail and Home Guards, will retain Home Guards and has been allotted the civil defence department as well.
