

Dehradun: Uttarakhand govt announced on Monday that it will clear all pending dues to dairy farmers before Diwali. State minister of animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries, Saurabh Bahuguna, said around Rs 12.5 crore is to be paid to dairy cooperatives, with an additional Rs 5.8 crore pending as incentives. Clearing the dues will benefit around 53,000 livestock farmers, he said.
He added that the dairy cooperative’s turnover grew from Rs 20.9 crore to Rs 43.7 crore over the past two years, with profits rising from Rs 2.7 crore to Rs 7.2 crore.
Bahuguna also announced that the Uttarakhand Cooperative Dairy Federation (UCDF) will hold two-day Diwali fairs in six locations—Nainital, US Nagar, Dehradun, Haridwar, Champawat, and Chamoli—where products from Aanchal Dairy will be sold.
He said Union home minister Amit Shah launched Uttarakhand’s Badri Ghee in Gujarat on Monday, giving the product national recognition.
